On Saturday, January 21, 2017 Girls With Ideas co-founders will join over 100,000 people (and counting) to march on Washington, D.C.

Girls With Ideas: #whyimarch from www . gi rlswithideas . com

The Women's March on Washington was inspired post-election by a Facebook event-turned-movement. As momentum grew, diverse organizers were recruited to ensure the march would represent intersectional feminism.  Close to 700,000 sister marches will take place all over the world on the same day, calling feminists from virtually anywhere to show their support for women's issues as our nation turns a new political leaf.

The hashtag #WhyIMarch has flooded social media. Here is why Girls With Ideas will march on Washington:

We will march to make a path for girls with ideas to become women with vision.  We stand for confidence, creativity, and leadership:

We march for women and girls who lack confidence because of their gender. We believe that every girl deserves the right to appreciate her own qualities; she deserves to feel smart, beautiful, and capable of making a difference in the world.

We march to pave a path for girls who deserve to grow up in a world that is truly prepared to give them equal opportunity to have their ideas heard. Each step we take will be for the girls who are brave enough to speak up, even when their voices shake.

We march to see fellow women celebrated as leaders and put in positions to affect change and improve our communities. We walk to see women lead like women: with love, empathy, power, and strength.

Everything we do at Girls With Ideas is with the intention to make the world a better place for women and girls. Although this march will be an important event in nation's history, we know that the work is still just beginning.

We are committed to doing whatever it takes to reach our goals and we invite you to join us on that journey.

If you would like to connect with us in D.C., tweet us at @GirlsWithIdeas. We'll have GWI swag on hand and look forward to connecting with others who support women and girls!
