5 Ways To Practice Body Positivity

No matter how old, smart, or talented someone may be, body image is something that a lot of people struggle with.  Being comfortable in your own skin is not easy, especially when the media is constantly feeding you messages saying you're not good enough. One way to combat this is to practice body positivity. Changing your perspective and looking at your body in a positive light rather than a negative one will help you love yourself more and be more confident. We've come up with a few ways for you to practice body positivity.

1. KEEP A TOP-TEN LIST OF THINGS THAT YOU LIKE ABOUT YOURSELF.

What are your top ten favorite things about yourself? They don't necessarily have to be visible things. Reflect upon those ten things and write them down. Refer back to that list when you're feeling down.

2. REMIND YOURSELF OF EVERYTHING YOU HAVE TO OFFER.

True beauty is more than skin deep. You have a lot more to offer than just your body. Remind yourself of your intelligence, leadership skills, kindheartedness, and all the other wonderful things you have to offer the world. Looks aren't everything.

3. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.

Exercise. Eat foods that make you feel good. Take a bubble bath. Do whatever you need to in order to take care of yourself. By taking care of your body, you're showing it the love it deserves.

4. WEAR WHATEVER YOU WANT.

And by this, we mean literally whatever you want. Do you feel comfortable and confident in that sweater with all the crazy colors? Wear it. Rock it.

5. REPEAT YOUR FAVORITE MANTRAS TO YOURSELF.

Many people have favorite quotes or mantras that they use to help guide them. Repeat those mantras to yourself and remind yourself of all the positivity in the world.

There is not one singular way to have a body. All bodies are beautiful, no matter their shape or size. Hopefully these simple tips will help you treat yours with the love and respect it deserves.
